NRMA Executive Named to National Retail Federation’s Ring of Excellence
Chapin, S.C. – George Slicho, an executive for General Information Services Inc.’s (GIS) National Retail Mutual Association (NRMA), was inducted into the National Retail Federation’s (NRF) Ring of Excellence on June 15, 2009.
The NRF Ring of Excellence award recognizes loss prevention (LP) professionals whose achievements and outstanding leadership have significantly shaped the industry. Slicho received the award for his more than 37 years of work in the law enforcement, security and LP fields.
Slicho currently serves as a Senior National Account Executive for the NRMA, GIS’ retail theft database, and is charged with building up the database with other participating retail members. NRMA is notably different from other retail theft databases because it verifies all incidents before allowing them to be disseminated and requires retailers to submit data if they wish to use the database.
Before working with NRMA, Slicho worked for Zale Corporation for 17 years and was promoted to Senior Vice President of LP for Zale Corporation in 2000. Slicho’s efforts at the large jewelry retail chain included pioneering remote surveillance of stores instead of the traditional use of motion sensitive cameras triggered by alarm systems.
Slicho received the award alongside other notable members in the LP community, including Sandy Katz, the founder of SFK Consulting and former VP of Loss Prevention for Talbots, and Gary Manson, who recently retired from the Neiman Marcus Group. Former founder/creator of the NRMA retail theft database, Bob Ralicki received the NRF Ring of Excellence Award last June, 2008.
