Thomas Stein
Thomas Stein is the Senior Director of Loss Prevention for HMSHost and is responsible for all aspects of Loss Prevention, including corporate security and pre-employment screening. HMSHost operates more than 2900 Food and Beverage, Retail and Duty Free locations in airports, travel plazas and malls and employs about 30,000 associates world wide. Thomas began his career in the private investigative sector and has more than 20 year’s of investigative and loss prevention management experience. Prior to joining HMSHost as the Corporate Loss Prevention Manager in 2002, he held district, regional or corporate loss prevention management positions with several national retailers including Hechinger/Home Quarters Warehouse and Circuit City. Thomas is on the board of directors of the National Food Service Security Council and is a Charter member of the Loss Prevention Foundation.
John Clark
John Clark is the Director, Asset Protection for The Sports Authority, based in Englewood, Colorado. Sports Authority is the largest full line sporting goods retailer in the United States, operating over 400 stores throughout 45 states under the Sports Authority name. John has been with Sports Authority since 1997 and is currently responsible for the oversight of regional operations and special investigations. Prior to his various roles in the retail sector, John held various positions in law enforcement and is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Doug Marker
Doug Marker is the Vice President of Loss Prevention, Risk and Audit at Michaels Stores, Inc. He is responsible for all aspects of Loss Prevention, Audit and Risk Management for 1100 stores covering 3 divisions, 6 Distribution Centers, Manufacturing facilities and Corporate Security. Doug has over 25 years experience in Loss Prevention. Doug joined Michaels in 2001 after spending 9 years at Gap, Inc. While at Gap, Inc. he held positions of Regional Manager, Director, Sr. Director and Vice President of Loss Prevention over all Gap Divisions. Previous to Gap, Inc., he held positions as Regional Director, Loss Prevention for Carson Pirie Scott Department Stores and Corporate Investigation Manager at Jordan Marsh, Florida.
Phillip Kitchens
Phillip Kitchens is the Senior Vice President of Loss Prevention for Movie Gallery/Hollywood video. Movie Gallery is the 2nd largest video rental chain in the United States with over 4500 store locations and employees over 40,000 employees. Phillip is responsible for and oversees the loss prevention, quality assurance, collections and support center administration departments across the entire chain. He began his career with Movie Gallery in 1994 just as the company had begun its rapid growth. As the lone person in loss prevention he quickly realized the need for a proactive loss prevention department and began a campaign to establish an exception reporting program coupled with a store level awareness program to educate store personnel of how shrink impacts each an every associate. He also introduced a background screening program to Movie Gallery to ensure that Movie Gallery associates have the best possible co-workers to help them achieve their goals. The background screening program has changed over the years and continues to be a key part of our total proactive loss prevention department.
Lorri Murphy
Lorri Murphy is the Corporate Loss Prevention Manager for General Nutrition Centers, Inc. (GNC), the largest global specialty retailer of nutritional supplements. Lorri is responsible for asset protection in 2,800 retail locations in the US and Canada, as well as corporate security and ethics. Lorri joined GNC in 1998 and is a member of the NRF Women in Loss Prevention Caucus.
Chris Hackler
Chris Hackler is the Senior Director of Loss Prevention for Zale Corporation, a leading specialty retailer of fine jewelry. Chris is responsible for LP for over 2,200 retail locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico under the following brand names: Zales Jewelers, Zales Outlet, Gordon's Jewelers, Peoples Jewellers, Mappins Jewelers, Piercing Pagoda, Plumb Gold, and Silver & Gold Connection. Chris is also responsible for the Zale Monitoring center. Chris has been with Zale Corporation since 1980, working under the Loss Prevention umbrella since 1991. Chris’s prior responsibilities included directing Physical Inventory and Risk Management for Zale Corp.
Dan Shaw
Dan Shaw is VP of Loss Prevention for Gap Inc., is one of the world’s largest specialty retailer, operating four of the most recognized brands in the world, Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Piperlime. Dan is responsible for Supply Chain loss prevention, LP operations, investigations, financial analytics and background screening for the organization. Dan has been with Gap Inc since 1990 and has been in retail loss prevention for his entire career.
Joe DiMariano
Joe DiMariano is the Vice President of Loss Prevention for DSW Shoes Inc. DSW Inc. (DSW)
DSW Is a specialty branded footwear retailer currently operating 232 stores in the U.S. The Company operates in two segments: DSW stores and leased departments. DSW stores also sell accessories. The leased departments comprise leased shoe departments in approximately 300 Stein Mart, Gordmans, Frugal Fannie and Filene's Basement Stores. Joe is responsible for the Loss Prevention and Safety efforts for all stores, Corporate Offices and Distribution Centers. Joe has been with DSW for 9 months. Joe has been in the Retail Loss Prevention field for almost 29 years. Prior to DSW, Joe has held positions as the Loss Prevention Executive for companies such as Urban Outfitters Inc, Federated Logistics, and Banana Republic.
J. Patrick Burns
J. Patrick Burns is the Director of Loss Prevention for Trans World Entertainment Corporation which operates 960 stores nationally under the dba "FYE". FYE, an entertainment store with music, movies, games, portable electronics and related boutique items. Patrick has responsibility for Field, Corporate and Distribution Loss Prevention. He has been with Trans World Entertainment since 1991. Patrick is also Chairman of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Hudson-Mohawk Chapter in Albany, NY since 2004. Prior to joining Trans World Entertainment Patrick held regional and store level positions for Lord & Taylor and Filene's Department stores.
Kevin Katchmar
Kevin Katchmar is the Vice President of Loss Prevention and Safety Services for New York & Company. New York & Company operates 575 women’s specialty stores under the names of New York & Company and Jasmine Sola.
Kevin has been with New York & Company since 1990 and formerly with Limited Brands, Goudchaux/ Maison Blanche, and Joseph Horne Co. for a total of 33 years in the business of Retail Loss Prevention.
Bo Collins
Bo Collins is the Sr. Director of Loss Prevention Support for Movie Gallery/Hollywood video. Movie Gallery is the 2nd largest video rental chain in the United States with over 4500 store locations and employees over 40,000 employees. Bo is responsible for Movie Gallery’s collections department and oversees a team of Loss Prevention investigators conducting employee theft investigations across the entire chain. He also maintains the support functions for the Loss Prevention field teams as well as the background screening and burglar alarms. Bo has been employed with Movie Gallery for nearly 5 years and has developed a passion for Loss Prevention.
Vic DeBlassi
Vic DeBlassi is Director of Loss Prevention for Toys R Us, Inc., with field responsibility for 208 stores on the East Coast. Vic has been with Toys R Us for 22 years holding various loss prevention management positions. Toys "R" Us is the world's leading specialty toy retailer. Currently it sells merchandise through more than 1,500 stores, including 586 stores in the U.S. and 678 international toy stores, which includes licensed and franchise stores, and through its Internet site at www.toysrus.com.
Mark Albert
Mark Albert is the National Fraud Director for The Mobile Solution. The Mobile Solution is the largest mall based retailer and authorized dealer for T-Mobile service. The Mobile Solution operates more then 465 locations in 38 states. Prior to joining The Mobile Solution in 2005, Mark was the District Asset Protection Manager for The Sports Authority. Mark has been in the security/retail loss prevention industry for over 25 years operating in various roles to include operating his own private investigation business. Steve McClain
Steve McClain is the Senior Vice President of Asset Protection at the Sports Authority. Steve has been with the Sports Authority for 4 years. Steve has in excess of 32 years of experience and has been with organizations such as Carlson Companies, Target, Hollywood Entertainment, Home Based warehouses (a large home improvement retailer) as well as numerous consulting positions. Steve was also the past President of the American Polygraph Association, among many other professional accomplishments and affiliations.
Sanford Siegel
Sanford is the Director of Loss Prevention Operations for GameStop. Sanford is responsible for Physical Security and all other Loss Prevention Operational programs for close to 4,000 stores. Sanford has been with GameStop for over 5.5 years and in the Loss Prevention Field for more than 19 years.
Wayne McBrian
Wayne began his Loss Prevention career as a Security Manager with JC Penney, and Abraham and Straus. His career has included positions as Director of Loss Prevention for both Barnes & Noble and Toy R Us. Since 1994 he has been the Director of Loss Prevention for Brookstone Stores. Brookstone operates 2 Mail Order titles, Internet Sales and 300+ Stores across the USA. Over 30 years of experience includes Forensic Auditing, Investigations, traditional Loss Prevention Programs and Internal Audit Management. Wayne is Vietnam Veteran, Member of the VFW, ASIS and Mail Order Task Force.
Jerry Snider
Jerry Snider is the Corporate Loss Prevention Director for Old Time Pottery, Inc. He is responsible for all aspects of Loss Prevention, Audit, Risk Management, Background Checks, and the company’s Drug Testing programs. Jerry has over 25 years experience in Loss Prevention. Jerry joined Old Time Pottery, Inc in 2007 and has held positions of Assistant Vice President of Loss Prevention with Service Merchandise Company, Director of Loss Prevention with Dollar General Corporation and Regional Loss Prevention Manager with Limited Brands. Jerry holds a CFI certification, is a member of the Loss Prevention Foundation, and is a founding member of the NRMA advisory board.
Paul Lunt
Paul is the Director of Loss Prevention for Bailey Banks and Biddle. Bailey Banks and Biddle which was acquired from Zale Corporation in Q4 of 2007. Paul has over 30+ years of experience in the Loss Prevention/Risk Management industry, both nationally and internationally. He has held senior level, executive management positions in Loss Prevention Operations, Risk Management & Shortage Control at Federated Department Stores, May Department Stores, Staples, Foot Locker & Great Atlantic Pacific Tea Company. Paul is the former chairman of the Massachusetts Retail Merchants Security Committee; former member and speaker for ASIS and former instructor for the State of Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council.
